Chapter 100
Melvin stared at Jocelyn’s latest tweet with such intensity that he might as well have been trying to burn a hole through his phone
screen. Red wine in hand, his eyes flashed with irritation at the sight of her comment thanking everyone for their blessings.
He could not stand the thought of her happily flaunting her new relationship, so he commented, “Looks like the new boyfriend’s a
bit old, huh?”
Jocelyn’s breath hitched as she read the comment. She wanted to block and delete him from her life, but instead, she chose to
ignore it, letting Melvin’s passive-aggressive jabs slide off her back.
Just as she was about to close the app, she noticed he had deleted his comment. Relief washed over her, but it was short-lived
as a knock at the door jolted her.
Her heart raced, and her body shivered. Staring at the door, she had a feeling that it was Melvin on the other side. Thus, she
remained
seated, frozen, not daring to move
Her phone vibrated again. It was a message from Melvin, [Open the door]
Those three words were enough to convey his impatience. Jocelyn clenched her phone but did not respond. The knocking
stopped.
[is he there? Bad timing?] Melvin texted again.
Taking a deep breath, Jocelyn switched off the lights, hoping to convey the message that she was not home.
Melvin seemed to be giving up, the world outside falling silent.
Then, the buzzing of her phone broke the stillness. Melvin was calling, the persistent vibration a loud declaration of his presence,
numbing her hand and unsettling her heart.
She did not answer Instead, she tossed her phone aside, letting it ring.
The screen stayed lit up, Melvin’s persistence clear as day. He was hell-bent on causing a scene, a true testament to his spiteful
nature.

If Hamison were actually here, who knew what might have happened.
The screen eventually went dark, then lit up again.
Six missed calls, and Jocelyn did not pick up once.
Finally, he seemed to stop. But then he reached out through Facebook.
[Are you able to sleep tonight?] His message read.
Jocelyn felt certain Melvin was unwell in the head. Why else would he so relentlessly try to sabotage her happiness? He refused
to marry her, remained entangled with a past flame, and now he could not stand her moving on.

If that was not a sickness, what was it?
She turned off her phone. Without a firm stance, she feared the harassment would last all night.
Lying in bed, sleep eluded her.
Preston claimed Melvin had come to Berry City for her.
What was that supposed to mean? Devotion?
She could not fathom Melvin’s motives. He was the one who said she was not good enough and that he would never give her
another chance. And yet, here he was, doggedly pursuing her, causing a scene.
The moment she agreed to be with Harrison, Melvin showed up.
Whether it was love or not, belated affection was worth less than weeds.
If she went back to him, she would be an idiot.
Berry City in November was experiencing an unusual thunderstorm, booming thunder mixed with sleet. The weather was
capricious as ever, unpredictable despite any advance warnings.
in the morning, the streets were dusted with a thin layer of white.
Hamson had sent her a photo saying it was the season’s first snow.

She replied with a snapshot of the snowy scene outside her hotel.
For someone from the South, the sight of Northern snow was a thrill
femon had promised to take her to his hometown for the holidays to see the snow that could pile high enough to block the front
door

She agreed.
After breakfast at the hotel, Jocelyn headed to school.
That evening, Elise made a special trip to pick her up for dinner at home.
Ever since learning of Jocelyn’s relationship with Harrison, Elise could not hide her joy
Once home, Elise and Keegan cooked dinner themselves, relinquishing the task from the usual household staff.
Harrison was touched. “It’s rare for me to enjoy a home cooked meal from my parents. Today, I’m basking in your light.”
Jocelyn blushed at the compliment
The dinner table was adorned with homemade dishes that could rival any restaurant in presentation and taste.
Now that their relationship was official, Elise eagerly initiated a video call with Daisy, Jocelyn’s mother. The previous
misunderstanding had been awkward for both families, but this time was different, the satisfaction with the young couple’s
relationship was palpable.
Jocelyn, now recognized, felt her parents pride through the screen.
Before ending the call, Elise warmly invited Jocelyn’s parents to visit Berry City, and they graciously accepted.

The meal was joyous, and Jocelyn felt enveloped in a profound sense of happiness.
As they prepared to leave, Elise handed Jocelyn a beautifully crafted box.
“The last time was premature, but now it’s all proper. Consider this a welcoming gift.”Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm

Elise said as she opened the box to reveal a stunningly luxurious bracelet that took Jocelyn’s breath away.
Jocelyn might not have been an expert in jade, but she knew the value of what lay before her. The bracelet’s lustrous green
seemed almost liquid, extraordinary to behold.
“This is too valuable,” Jocelyn protested, overwhelmed by the gesture.
Is there anything more valuable than you?” Elise insisted, slipping the bracelet onto Jocelyn’s wrist. “Look, it fits perfectly. This
means you’re officially part of the Whitman family.”
Jocelyn was stunned, seeking Harrison’s support with wide eyes.
Harrison smiled, explaining, “This bracelet has been passed down through generations. From my great-grandmother to my
grandmother, then to my mother, and now to you. It’s a sign that you’re accepted as the Whitman family’s daughter-in-law.”
Jocelyn’s heart skipped a beat.
“This... Harrison and I have only just started dating. We’re not even sure what will happen in the future. It really isn’t appropriate
for me to accept this,” Jocelyn stammered, the weight of their expectations heavy on her shoulders.
Elise held her hand firmly, “It’s okay. We’ll deal with the future when it comes. For now, I accept you.”
Jocelyn should have felt joy at being accepted by her boyfriend’s family, but all she could feel was immense pressure.
Noticing Jocelyn’s discomfort, Harrison gently removed the bracelet from her wrist, “Mom, don’t scare her. We can wait until
we’re married to give it to her.”
Elise gazed at her son in surprise.
Harrison held Jocelyn’s hand, feeling the tension leave her body once the bracelet was removed. He squeezed her hand gently.
“How about we give her a generous cash gift?”
Elise caught on to Harrison’s drift and glanced at her husband.
Keegan was already on it, passing the envelope.

“Alright then, you didn’t accept the last gift, but this time you must, Elise insisted, pushing the envelope into Jocelyn’s hand. “No
backing out this time.
The hefty envelope felt significant in weight, and Jocelyn could no longer refuse it. She accepted it gratefully, “Thank you so
much.” We’re all family here, no need for formalities, Elise genuinely liked Jocelyn. She was educated, kind, and gentle-a perfect
match for her son.
Leaving the Whitman residence, Jocelyn looked at the thick envelope-in her hands. She felt a bit guilty, frequently glancing at the
man focused on driving.
If you’re thinking about giving the money back, it means you don’t have faith in our relationship.” Harrison noticed her hesitation
and added. 7m in this for the long haul.
Jocelyn paused, her heart racing because of his words.
The things che had once longed for were now laid out before her by this man she had not known for long. Whether it was him or
has fooly, they had given her that utmost sense of security,.
